Core Beliefs
We Believe:
- God - in the existence of an eternal loving God who is the source of all creation. (Genesis 1:1; Exodus 34:6-7; Romans 1:20)
- Jesus - that Jesus is fully God and fully man who was conceived in the virgin Mary and lived a sinless live. That he died, was buried, and rose again to reconcile all things to God. That he will return someday and consummate the building of his Kingdom. (Luke 1:26-38; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Titus 2:11-14)
- Holy Spirit - that the Holy Spirit lives in us drawing us closer to God, transforming us into the image of Jesus and empowering us to do good deeds, demonstrating the beauty of Jesus. (John 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 12)
- Bible - that the bible is our God-inspired source for learning both about God and godly living. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21)
- Humanity - that sin is real, is a rebellion against God and separates us from Him. As a result of sin we are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through our own efforts. (Romans 5:12-19; 1 John 1:5-10)
- Salvation - that salvation is the free gift of God that has been made available through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Salvation is available to all who put their trust in Jesus. (Ephesians 2:1-10; Romans 6:23)
- Baptism - baptism is a one-time faith response to accepting Jesus as Savior, and a pledge of our devotion to God. The only baptism we practice is the believer's baptism by immersion. (Acts 2:36-41; Romans 6:1-11)
- Communion - communion is an ordinance the Lord gave the Church. That the bread and the cup are reminders of Christ sacrifice of love on the cross. We celebrate Jesus' victory over death each week through communion and are reminded of his imminent return. (Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
- The Kingdom - there is only one Kingdom of God, though it has multitudes of diverse expressions. It consists of all who believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and accept Him as Lord and King of their lives. (Romans 12:3-8; Colossians 1:9-14)
- The Church - We believe the church is designed to be a visible manifestation of God on earth, and we are called to advance the Kingdom of God against the kingdom of Satan. (1 Peter 2:4-10; Ephesians 6:10-20)
- Family - God's design for the family is for a father and mother to be responsible for raising their children in a God-centered and faith-building home and that the appropriate expression of human sexuality is only within a monogamous, heterosexual marriage. (Matthew 19:4-6; Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 5:3)
